I was feeling super proud of myself for keeping the ol’ blog pretty current and then… well, life happened. More specifically, my husband was an organizing partner for this tattoo and art festival and things just got pretty hectic around here. In the months leading up to the event, which was last weekend, he got increasingly busier and busier until we barely even saw each other, save for passing off the bub on days we both work, and the occasional night we’d actually get to spend an hour or so together before bedtime.
Starting last Tuesday we were pretty much staying at my moms (closer to the venue) until the weekend of the show when we stayed in the hotel all weekend. Bub adjusted ok, she is really comfortable at Grandma and Grandpa’s house, but add a few more strangers in the mix (our friends in a band from England came out for the event and spent a few days at my moms as well) and lots and lots of chaos and well, she was a little more than crabby. She was happy to be at the beach though – the venue was at Convention Hall in Asbury Park which is a super cool old structure right on the beach with the boardwalk stretching out on either side. We did spend some time hanging at the convention with the tattoo family but mostly we were at the beach or strolling up and down the boardwalk. I can say that Ivy officially has a tan now. There were some great playgrounds on the beach which we hung out on in order to give her a place to let loose and blow off some energy (and ew to hotel room floors). There was this really cool place called ‘Hot Sand’ that took impressions of things and turned them into glass. I desperately wanted to get Ivy’s hands or feet done but she was in no way cooperating with the process, so maybe next time.
The tattoo show was great and as a super bonus my parents and sister were there so there were plenty of baby sitters on hand. I actually got to go out one of the nights and was faced with a harsh reality in the morning after staying up way too late and getting woken up way to early by the bub the next am. But all in all, it was a great time and I can’t wait until next year!
She is not phased by any of this.
