I can’t believe it but today Ivy is one month old. How fast this past month went by! She is going to the pediatrician tomorrow so I will post her new weight, which I’m sure is at least 11 lbs (I weighed her 2 weeks ago at the breast feeding group and she was 10 lbs 12 oz).
It is so incredible how much she has changed in this month. When I look back at the pics from when we first brought her home I can’t believe how different she looks! She’s also really starting to respond to sounds and voices, she definitely knows mine and Jon’s voices, and if someone else is holding her she will turn towards us when we talk. She’s spending a lot more time awake these days and is really starting to take in her surroundings. When I take her out to the park, instead of immediately falling asleep (though she still does this sometimes too) she’ll look around and you can tell she’s absorbing all those news sounds. She’s really strong and when she’s on her tummy on my chest, or on her tummy time mat, she can hold up her head and turn it to either side. Though she still does what I refer to as headbanging when she gets a little bobble head like. And then, of course, there’s this;
She is starting to smile beyond when she is farting or pooping!
She’s had an adventurous first month. Besides our usual walks in the park and trips to the store she’s been out to lunch and brunch with us and family/ friends at least 1/2 a dozen times (and she’s been GOOD all of those times!). She had her first trip to Manhattan and visited the guys at the Tattoo shop and went out to brunch at a trendy LES restaurant. She also went to Coney Island when she was just 8 days old. She hasn’t been to Jersey yet but we’re going to visit grandma & grandpa there next weekend and she’ll be the star of a BBQ in my moms backyard.
We’ve been having the best time honing our parenting skills and watching her grow and change. I refuse to even think about the fact that my maternity leave is waning, and can’t wait to see what the coming months bring!
*UPDATE* She had her checkup yesterday and officially weighs 11 lbs 3 oz an is 23 inches long. That means she gained 2 lbs since her birth weight and grew an inch. She was really really good the whole time. Which is probably to compensate for how bad she’s going to be when she has to get her vaccinations.
